PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- The City of Pueblo is starting a new temporary cleanup program starting Tuesday that officials say will help make neighborhoods more inviting.

According to the city, the program, "Clean & Connected Pueblo," will use the Municipal Court Division in the city to facilitate cleanup efforts. They say that it includes items that need to be disposed of, including household trash, scrap metal, electronics and appliances, including microwaves and grills.

The city says the cleanup days will be weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays throughout the rest of 2026. It officially starts on October 20, but the first Saturday cleanup will be on October 31.

According to officials, large dumpsters, a scrap metal dumpster, and disposal for electronics, tires and appliances will be at two separate city-owned properties. The first site is at 5th Street and North Lacrosse Avenue on the east side of the city. The second site is in the Bessemer neighborhood at Mesa Avenue and Orman Avenue, the city says.

Anyone who needs help loading items or can't get to the two locations can email cleanup@pueblo.us or call 719-750-7938; the city says someone from their team might be available to help.

According to the city, the program is using the last of the American Rescue Plan Act funds that have to be used by the end of the year. Officials say the cleanups have to happen in qualified census tract areas to meet federal requirements/

More information on the program, including how to volunteer, can be found on the City of Pueblo's website.
