Closures on Union Boulevard bridge over Cottonwood Creek could last eight weeks

City of Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The City of Colorado Springs is warning drivers to expect road closures on the Union Boulevard bridge over Cottonwood Creek for around eight weeks.

The city says the closure will start on Wednesday, October 14. There will be temporary lane closures between Woodland Hills Drive and Deliverance Drive for around eight weeks, according to officials.

They say one outside lane will be closed at a time while routine maintenance is done on the bridge, and nearby fencing is improved. Traffic will still be open in both directions, but the city says the Cottonwood Creek Trail could see brief closures or delays.

According to officials, flaggers will be on the trail to help those using it when needed. They are asking drivers to slow down, watch for crews and allow for extra travel time while the construction takes place.
