EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- El Paso County Search and Rescue confirms it is working to rescue an injured hiker from Old Stage Road.

According to officials, a call for help from a reporting party came in around 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Search and Rescue told KRDO13 as of 10 p.m., the rescue was still ongoing.

The road, which is behind the Broadmoor and goes all the way to Cripple Creek turns into a dirt road eventually. Officials say the injured hiker was several miles in, and Search and Rescue had called in support from the military for a helicopter.

Broadmoor Fire is also assisting at the scene, according to Search and Rescue. Officials were not able to provide an exact location, but said the hiker was several miles up, and a ground rescue would take several hours.

Search and Rescue did confirm they had ground units on the scene if necessary.

KRDO13 is heading to the scene and working to learn more information.
