Man accused of trying to run over officers in stolen vehicle in Pueblo

Pueblo Police Department

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- A 33-year-old man was arrested early Friday after allegedly ramming two patrol vehicles and nearly hitting officers while trying to leave in a stolen vehicle, according to the Pueblo Police Department (PPD).

Officers say they were patrolling the 2300 block of Tucci Lane around 1:55 a.m. on Oct. 2 when they spotted a vehicle with a man sleeping in the driver's seat. According to PPD, the vehicle had no visible license plates and appeared to be stolen.

As officers approached to check on the driver's condition, the man, identified as Devin Marolf, allegedly put the vehicle in drive and struck a patrol car parked in front of him.

Marolf then allegedly reversed into a second patrol vehicle before turning toward officers and accelerating, nearly hitting them, police said.

The vehicle eventually became stuck on top of a boulder. PPD says Marolf got out and attempted to run from officers, despite having a cast on one leg and leaving his cane inside the vehicle. Law enforcement said he soon tripped and fell.

Officers say they took Marolf into custody following a brief struggle.

The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office later confirmed the vehicle was stolen. Marolf was taken to a local hospital for medical clearance before being booked into the Pueblo County Jail, PPD says.

He faces multiple charges, including aggravated motor vehicle theft, assault with a weapon, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, reckless driving, and driving while under the influence of alcohol, PPD says.
