BUENA VISTA, Colo. (KRDO) -- Buena Vista police officers helped save the life of a choking infant during an emergency response on Sept. 27.

According to the Buena Vista Police Department (BVPD), officers responded to a call reporting that an infant was choking and not breathing.

BVPD says Sgt. Frazer Pomfret and Officer Anitta Wroten were the first to arrive at the scene, followed by Officer Stephen Caffrey. First responders from the Chaffee County Fire Protection District and Chaffee County EMS also assisted.

The department credited the officers' recent CPR and first aid training with helping them respond to the emergency.
