WATCH: El Paso County first responders rescue woman and dog trapped in Fountain Creek culvert

El Paso County Sheriff's Office

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO) says it helped rescue a woman and her dog who were trapped in Fountain Creek earlier in September.

According to EPSO, deputies responded to a call around 2:30 p.m. on September 9 for a person in the 3100 block of Glenarm Road who heard someone calling for help. EPSO says they responded and found an adult female and her dog trapped in Fountain Creek inside a culvert, with water rising to her neck.

EPSO deputies say they were able to cut through a fence and, with help from the Stratmoor Hills Fire District and Security Fire Department, pulled a grate from the culvert and were able to rescue the woman and her dog from the water.
