Falcon Highway reopened after three-car crash near Buckboard Drive

Colorado State Patrol

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) says a three-car crash has caused Falcon Highway to be shut down in both directions at Buckboard Drive.

According to CSP, officials responded around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday for a crash involved three passenger vehicles. One person was taken to the hospital via air.

CSP says a preliminary report shows a Dodge Ram was travelling eastbound on Falcon Highway. A Toyota Corolla was stopped behind a Chevrolet Lumina that was trying to make a left turn from eastbound Falcon Highway onto northbound Buckboard Drive.

That is when CSP says the front of the Dodge hit the back of the Toyota, which then hit the driver's side of the Chevrolet.

CSP says a 21-year-old passenger in the Toyota was taken to a local hospital by air with unknown injuries.

The 74-year-old driver of the Toyota had minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital. A passenger in that car had no reported injuries, CSP says. The 18-year-old driver of the Dodge and two passengers had no reported injuries. The 17-year-old driver of the Chevrolet also had no reported injuries, according to CSP.

CSP says the road was closed for a little over an hour, and reopened around 3:45 p.m.
