City to close Memorial Park vehicle gates earlier on Sundays

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The City of Colorado Springs announces that, starting Sept. 27, it will begin closing vehicle gates at Memorial Park at 7 p.m. on Sundays, two hours earlier than the current 9 p.m. closure.

The city says it made the decision as part of an ongoing effort to protect Memorial Park and provide a safe environment.

Other safety upgrades include new lighting, security gates, and wireless cameras, according to city officials.

After 7 p.m. every Sunday, vehicles must exit the park before the gates close; however, pedestrian and bicycle access will remain available, the city says.
