USPS begins accepting holiday letters for Operation Santa program

MGN

STATEWIDE, Colo. (KRDO) -- The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) is now accepting letters for USPS Operation Santa.

The program is a chance for children and families across the U.S. to write holiday letters that get sent in to the North Pole. USPS then gives people a chance to choose letters to respond to and grant some of the wishes the kids ask for. USPS notes not every gift the kid asks for has to be delivered.

In order for letters to get a response, they have to be postmarked by December 5, according to USPS. Registration for those who want to adopt and respond to a letter starts on November 2.

USPS says people can either register as individuals or groups. Individual people are not allowed to adopt more than 15 letters, according to officials.

USPS also has templates for the letters available on its website, along with helpful tips if people are writing with an organization or classroom.

USPS says letters that are submitted have to follow the program guidelines. Those can be found on the USPS Operation Santa website.
