EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- El Paso County is asking residents for pro/con comments on a ballot measure that would renew the county's Public Safety Tax.

According to officials, citizens in the county will have until noon on Friday, Sept. 18 to submit comments on County Issue 1A. Those comments would be included in the ballot issue notice.

The county says comments for the issue must address County Issue 1A specifically, clearly state a position on supporting or opposing the issue, be submitted in writing, include the submitting elector's signature and include the address where the elector is registered to vote.

The county says comments can be submitted via email to angieleath@elpasoco.com, and should include a signed letter or other signed document with the necessary information.

The county can also receive hard copy comments at:

El Paso County Clerk and Recorder
Elections Department
Citizens Service Center
1675 W. Garden of the Gods Rd., Ste. 2202
Colorado Springs, CO  80907

All submissions have to be received by noon on September 18. The county says postmarks do not determine whether comments were submitted on time.

For those who have questions about the submission process, contact the El Paso County Clerk and Recorder Elections Manager.
