WATCH: Suspect arrested after T-boning Aurora police car responding to call

AURORA, Colo. (KRDO) -- Police in Aurora are reminding people to stay aware and alert of emergency lights after a patrol car was hit by another car that didn't stop, causing the patrol car to flip.

According to the Aurora Police Department (APD), officers were responding to a call at a middle school around 4 p.m. Wednesday when an alleged drunk driver t-boned the patrol car at the intersection of South Peoria Street and East Yale Avenue.

Video footage released from the incident showed the patrol car had its lights and sirens on.

APD says the patrol car overturned onto two other vehicles. The suspect, 32-year-old Anthony Robinson, tried to flee but didn't get very far. APD says they found him less than a block away and he was taken into custody.

Inside Robinson's car, officials say they found an empty bottle of liquor and drug paraphernalia. APD says both officers in the patrol car were seen for minor injures then released from the hospital.

Robinson was arrested on probable cause of driving under the influence, leaving the scene of a crash involving injury, failure to yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and driving without insurance.
