One person dead following suspected drowning at Prospect Lake, CSPD on scene

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) confirmed one person has died after a suspected drowning at Prospect Lake.

According to CSPD, officers were alerted to a potential drowning around 5:40 p.m. Wednesday. Medical personnel arrived and provided emergency medical intervention, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

CSPD says Dart Officers assisted the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) on a call for a reported drowning. Officials say a good Samaritan on a boat rescued an adult male from the water and brought him to the shore. That is when CSPD says CSFD attempted lifesaving measures that were unsuccessful.

CSPD says they are on scene responding to the incident.

CSPD told KRDO13 the El Paso County Coroner's Office was on its way to the scene and would release more information when it was available.

KRDO13 is on it's way to the scene. This is a developing story.
