CSP hosting auto theft prevention event in Pueblo, giving away free security tools

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) is bringing its Auto Theft Prevention Authority to Pueblo for an event this weekend.

CSP says its Pueblo Troop Office will host an auto theft prevention event on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

According to organizers, the event will have free steering wheel locks, motorcycle theft-prevention locks, catalytic converter etching labels and a chance for free GPS tracker registration. CSP says to qualify for any of the tools, attendees just need to have a valid Colorado vehicle registration.

All the supplies are first-come, first-served, according to CSP. They say while Colorado has seen a decline in auto thefts, the National Insurance Crime Bureau says Pueblo has one of the highest per capita auto thefts in the country.

The event is free and open to the public.
