Colorado Parks and Wildlife offering first-ever free Citizens Academy in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) is hosting its first-ever Citizens Academy in Colorado Springs to help residents with questions they might have related to outdoor activities.

CPW says the academy will run for six weeks starting on September 16 until October 21. It runs on Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Southeast Region Office at 4255 Sinton Road in Colorado Springs.

According to officials, the courses will focus on an overview of outdoor recreation and conservation, including a chance to hear directly from experts. There is also a chance to speak with K9 handlers, aquatic biologists and boating investigators over the course of the academy.

CPW says they ask that those who are interested sign up and commit to all six sessions. Sign-ups for the free course are due by September 13. People can sign up online now on CPW's website.

Officials say all ages are welcome, but the course is more appropriate for teenagers and adults.
