Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region brings back annual Pawtoberfest fundraiser

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A pup-tastic event to help kick off the fall season in the Pikes Peak region is coming this weekend.

The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) is hosting its Pawtoberfest. Organizers say the dog-friendly festival is one of HSPPR's annual fundraising events, helping to raise money for all the animals at HSPPR.

The event will feature craft brews and spirit tastings, pet contests and family-friendly activities. Pawtoberfest is Saturday, Sept. 12 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Union Printers Home at Printers Hill.

Some of the featured pet contests include an owner/pet look-alike contest, where participants can dress in matching outfits. There is also a pooch smooch contest, where owners compete to see who can receive the most kisses from their furry friends within a time limit.

Kids five and under are free on a kids pass. There is a $20 ticket available for those who aren't interested in the alcohol tasting. For those 21 and over, a pass including the spirits and beer tasting is $55. An all-inclusive VIP ticket is available for $125, according to organizers.
