Hot and mainly dry for the Labor Day Weekend

Very little weather activity shows up on the national satellite and radar maps across the Western U.S. A strong area of dry high pressure continues to keep a grip across the Central U.S., and with it comes this stagnant weather pattern.

Over Colorado, we see a little weather disturbance over the Southeast Corner of our state where a few showers have developed. It is possible that one or two evening thundershowers could produce gusty 50 to 60 miles per hour winds over Prowers, Otero and Bent Counties. Little, if any, rain is expected.

Sunday will be hot and mainly dry for the Southeast Plains, with daytime high temperatures reaching the mid to upper 90s. Colorado Springs will be mainly sunny with the high temperature around 92 degrees.

Labor Day and the rest of the upcoming week will feature more seasonal weather with a return to mid-80s temperatures and a fair chance for afternoon showers and thunderstorms each day.

If you're planning an outdoor barbecue on Monday, be ready for a toasty afternoon with a high temperature of 91 degrees, followed by a brief, gusty afternoon thundershower after 3 p.m.
