EPSO: Traffic stop leads to arrests and seizure of guns and illicit drugs

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- Two people were arrested after deputies allegedly found two firearms, fentanyl pills, illicit drugs, and a large amount of cash during a traffic stop, according to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO).

EPSO says traffic deputies stopped a vehicle at about 9:27 p.m. Aug. 29 near Peterson Road and Panamint Court in the Cimarron Hills area.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies saw a firearm and drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle.

Deputies say they detained the suspects, identified as 48-year-old Preston Reno and 43-year-old Amanda Pacheco-Sammon, and searched the vehicle.

During the search, deputies reportedly found another firearm, fentanyl pills, other illicit drugs and a large amount of U.S. currency.

Reno was booked into the El Paso County Jail on charges including:

  • Aggravated driving after revocation
  • Possession of a weapon by a previous offender
  • Unlawful possession of a controlled substance
  • Special offender — drug offenses
  • Various traffic offenses

According to the sheriff's office, Reno is being held on a $50,000 bond.

Pacheco-Sammon was booked on charges including:

  • Possession of a weapon by a previous offender
  • Special offender — drug offenses
  • Unlawful possession of a controlled substance
  • Unlawful distribution, manufacture, dispensing or sale of a controlled substance

EPSO says Pacheco-Sammon was released on a $50,000 bond.
