Motorcyclist dead after two-vehicle crash on East Platte Avenue

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A motorcycle driver has died after a crash on East Platte Avenue earlier today, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

According to officials, CSPD was alerted to a two-vehicle crash that had injuries on East Platte Avenue east of North Chelton Road. When officers and medical personnel arrived, they offered medical aid.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation showed the motorcycle was going east when it hit a sedan that was trying to turn west onto East Platte Avenue, according to CSPD. Officials say CSPD's Major Crash Team has taken over the investigation.
