Coroner identifies suspect killed after shooting that left two Colorado State Troopers injured

TELLER COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Teller County Coroner's Office has released the name of the suspect who was killed Tuesday after allegedly shooting two Colorado State Patrol troopers.

According to officials, Robert Rudolf Richards Jr., 51, from Loveland, Colo., was killed after suffering a fatal gunshot wound during an encounter with Teller County Sheriff's Office deputies. Officials say life saving measures were attempted but he ultimately died at the Pikes Peak Regional Hospital around noon on Aug. 25.

The Teller County Coroner's Office says they are investigating the death, but the Colorado Bureau of Investigation continues to investigate the circumstances around the shooting.
