Four kittens rescued from couch headed for Chaffee County landfill

CHAFFEE COUNTY, Colo. — Four kittens are safe after they were discovered hiding underneath the cushions of an old couch headed to the Chaffee County Landfill.

The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) says the kittens were found just before the couch was unloaded from a trash trailer.

The kittens were checked and are reportedly healthy. They have since been reunited with their mother, according to CCSO.

The sheriff’s office is reminding people to thoroughly inspect furniture and other items before taking them to the landfill, especially when they could provide shelter for animals.
