Man rescued after truck swept off road by rushing water in Pueblo County

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- A man was safely rescued from his truck Thursday after rushing water swept the vehicle off the road in Pueblo County.

Deputies and members of the Emergency Services Fire Team say they responded to the 6500 block of Red Creek Springs Road West after the truck was pushed into a ditch and partially submerged.

Authorities say the driver attempted to cross an area where rainwater was flowing over the roadway during Aug. 13 evening storms; the driver was uninjured.

Officials are reminding drivers to use caution during and after storms, especially with rain and potential flash flooding in the forecast.

PCSO urges drivers to:

• Stay out of flooded areas.
• Turn around if you encounter standing or flowing water.
• Never drive through standing or rushing water, which can conceal debris, trees and rocks.
• Move to higher ground if flooding threatens.
