Second annual Guns & Hoses City Slickers Rodeo raises more than $40,000 for local nonprofit organizations

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO) announces that its Second Annual Guns & Hoses City Slickers Rodeo raised over $40,000 for local nonprofit organizations.

EPSO says the rodeo raised $40,463.14, surpassing last year's contribution. The event had around 3,000 attendees and continues to support organizations serving first responders, military members, and the Pikes Peak region, officials say.

The money will now be distributed among three organizations according to EPSO:

• Colorado Springs Firefighters Foundation: $16,705.26
• Pikes Peak Law Enforcement Memorial Fund: $12,844.21
• Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo Foundation: $10,913.67

“This event represents what can be accomplished when our first responders, military partners, local businesses, and community come together for a common purpose,” said El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal. “Two years ago, this event began as an idea from a group of my Mounted Unit deputies who wanted to create something meaningful for our community. Seeing their vision grow into an event raising more than $40,000 for local charities makes me incredibly proud.”

So far, the event has donated over $76,000 to local nonprofits in its first two years, says EPSO.
