Colorado Springs brings back popular hot dog and martini crawl

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A popular downtown Colorado Springs food event is coming back for the next two weeks.

The "Weenies & 'Tinis" event will run at ten downtown restaurants from Aug. 14 to Aug. 30. According to the Colorado Springs Downtown Partnership, the event features gourmet hot dog and martini pairings at restaurants across downtown.

"[Restaurants] get to experiment with ingredients, flavors and combinations that might not normally have a place on their menus, and customers get a great excuse to try something completely unexpected," Kelsee Swenn, the marketing manager for the Downtown Partnership said.

Those interested can download a passport from the city's website and earn points by visiting different locations. Those points can then be redeemed for prizes like gift cards and stickers. After the event, locals will get to vote on their favorite pairing to win "Top Dog," according to the Downtown Partnership.

Some of the featured pairings include:

• Argentine Choripán and a fernet espresso martini (Shame & Regret)
• Brown sugar burnt tip dog and sweet tea martini (Counterfeit Cowboy)
• Elote hot dog and corn and cilantro daisy (Rebel Rebel)
