Overnight fire in Las Animas County estimated at over 2,000 acres

LAS ANIMAS COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) - Crews with the Hoehne Fire Protection District were dispatched to the Post Fire, which sparked just before 2 a.m. on August 12, 2026.

Fire officials say the Post Fire is burning atop the Raton Mesa and that resources have been deployed. Acreage was estimated at 2,427 acres as of the last update.

There are currently no evacuation orders in place for this fire. Officials say they have multiple agencies and air assets working on the blaze.
