PALMER LAKE, Colo. (KRDO) -- With all the hot weather recently, even the wildlife is finding fun ways to cool off the summer heat.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) posted a video of a bear family using Palmer Lake as their own personal kiddie pool this week. According to CPW, a mama bear and her two cubs took a dip to help cool off.

CPW says humans have functional sweat glands that help them cool off. Bears don't, so when the temperatures get hot, they find other ways to cool off. Whether its laying in the shade or splashing in the lake, bears use these cooling techniques to help get rid of some of their natural body heat.

Officials say the playful behavior seen by the cubs in the video also helps them develop strength and coordination to survive on their own.
