Only one lane open on US 24 westbound due to fire activity near Cascade

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- Only one lane of U.S. Highway 24 westbound is open near Cascade due to fire activity.

The Colorado Department of Transportation says the road is closed between Waldo Canyon and Pikes Peak Highway (Cascade-Chipita Park) due to fire activity.

The Colorado State Patrol says an SUV caught on fire. There are no injuries, and officials are waiting on hazmat to help clean up the gasoline. One lane is open, as of 4:40 p.m.

Slower speeds are advised, according to officials.
