Crowley County man sentenced to 36 years for assaulting officers during undercover operation

LINCOLN COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- A man has been sentenced to 36 years after assaulting law enforcement officers during an undercover sting, according to the 23rd Judicial District Attorney's Office.

32-year-old Christopher Hudson, who is from Crowley County, was found guilty of felony eluding, three counts of attempted assault and possession of a weapon by a previous offender, according to officials.

During a May 2025 undercover operation, a suspect was arrested for agreeing to sell 100 fentanyl pills to an undercover Lincoln County Sheriff's Office deputy at a Loaf-N-Jug in Limon. As the officer arrested the driver, officials say Hudson climbed into the driver's seat and tried to escape. During his attempted escape, Hudson hit two cars before steering directly at an officer and barely missing him.

Officers were eventually able to stop Hudson near Main Street and Highway 24, according to the 23rd Judicial District Attorney's Office. A female passenger got out of the car but Hudson refused. When officers tried to arrest him, he pulled out a handgun and pointed it at them, according to officials.

Hudson was quickly disarmed and taken into custody after multiple taser deployments, according to officials.

Hudson was sentenced to 36 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections.

"In the past 15 years, Hudson has not had a six-month stretch of life in which he has not been in custody, under supervision or broken the law," District Attorney George Brauchler said. "He has earned a sentence in prison longer than he has been alive."
