New survey seeks input on wildfire mitigation and emergency alerts in Fremont County

Fremont County

FREMONT COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- Fremont County is asking its residents to participate in a wildfire survey to gather their insights on the county's wildfire preparedness.

The county says the survey will look at its residents' ideas about forest health and treatment activities, including controlled burns and tree thinning. It will also ask for ideas and feedback on emergency alerts.

Officials say answers to the survey will go towards the county's Community Wildfire Protection Plan. They say it will eventually create recommendations that help protect homes and essential infrastructure, as well as help raise federal and state funding for mitigation efforts.

The survey asks specifically if residents have been impacted by the "Aspen Acres" fire, or any other wildfires in the past year, and how prepared they feel if a wildfire were to threaten their home.

The survey is available on Fremont County's website, and will be open until Aug. 28 for feedback. Officials say it should take around ten minutes to fill out.
