Pueblo Community College to buy Pueblo West building for trade programs

Pueblo Community College

PUEBLO WEST, Colo. (KRDO) -- Pueblo Community College (PCC) says it has plans to purchase a building in Pueblo West to expand some of its trade programs.

PCC says it has entered an agreement for a building at 713 E. Spaulding Ave. It would expand the automotive and welding programs which are currently taught in several places across Pueblo, but often have waiting lists to meet the demand, according to officials.

The classes are currently taught at the Orman Avenue campus in Pueblo, its southwest campus in Mancos, Pueblo West High School and CaƱon City High School. PCC's president says the plan is to grow the school and help the programs grow as well.

Officials say the business plan for the new property would contribute revenue back to the overall budget for the college. It is expected to cost around $3 million.

The school says funding has come from reserves the college has collected over several years, as well as $1 million that was raised in a campaign by the PCC Foundation for the purchase and operations of the building.

PCC says it expects its new location to open in the fall of 2027.
