MONUMENT, Colo. (KRDO) -- A Dairy Queen coming to Monument has a new opening date for next week.

The location at 16577 Cinematic View in Monument will open on Monday, August 3. It is the second location in El Paso County owned by a couple with local ties.

"I was born and raised in Monument, CO and graduated from the local high school," Karlye Brooks, one of the owner-operators said in a press release. "We are excited to now be opening a business here and creating a welcoming space where families, friends and neighbors can come together and enjoy the brand."

The Brooks also own the location in Colorado Springs, the press release says. The location was originally supposed to open last week, but pushed back its grand opening, according to officials.

According to officials, the team plans to collaborate with local schools and community members to organize events that support the local community. It will also work with Dairy Queen's national partnership with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
