COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A woman who died after a fatal crash in Colorado Springs has been identified, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

87-year-old Dorothy Young died on July 14 after receiving medical care at a local hospital due to a crash.

CSPD says it responded to a call on July 9 around 9:15 a.m. for reports of a multi-vehicle crash on South Powers Boulevard, near East Fountain Boulevard.

Officials say a dump truck was stopped in the center lane waiting for a signal when a silver SUV was beginning to stop behind it. A third car, a gold sedan, driving by Young, failed to stop for the traffic and rear ended the SUV.

The SUV and gold sedan both struck the rear end of the dump truck. Young had to be extracted from the car and was taken to a local hospital at the time, according to officials.

CSPD says the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact officials.

This is the 33rd traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year, according to officials.
