Hot Days and Slow Moving Storms Ahead

The monsoonal flow from the deep Southwest continues to flood our state with plenty of moisture for late afternoon storms. Like before, these storms will form over the mountains, foothills and finally the Southern Front Range by evening. A HEAT ADVISORY continues for Colorado Springs and Pueblo for the rest of Sunday afternoon as high temperatures reach for the low to mid 100s.

Storms will end by Sunday night, but the flow of moist air over the region with help with more thunderstorm development on Monday through Wednesday afternoon. A bit of upslope flow toward the foothills will increase the chances for afternoon rain each day through midweek before drier air returns on Friday and Saturday.

Late summer thunderstorms move slowly, and often pack lots of rainfall. For these reasons, flooding near creeks and streams and especially over areas affected by recent wildfires is possible. Remember to "turn around, don't drown" if you find yourself near rapid rising water.
