Injuries to man in Boulder County not caused by bear attack, but bear did enter home

BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- A man who was found injured in Boulder County was not the victim of a bear attack, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) says, according to our Denver news partners.

CPW was originally responding to a suspected bear attack near Beaver Reservoir, where one person was injured according to their social media accounts.

According to our Denver news partners, the Boulder County Sheriff's Office says the caller believed the man was injured by the bear due to the state of his camper. A 57-year-old man was found inside the camper and was flown to a local hospital for treatment.

Our Denver news partners report CPW's investigation, along with a medical staff, determined the man's injuries were not caused by a bear but were likely from a pre-existing medical emergency. Officials told our partners the bear was believed to have entered the camper after smelling rotting food inside.

CPW says the bear will have to be killed once found because it no longer fears humans and poses a public safety threat.
