Increased DUI patrols planned in El Paso County this weekend

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) says its DUI Task Force, along with the Calhan Police Department (CPD) will increase patrols in El Paso County this weekend.

Officials say local troopers and CPD will focus on major traffic areas and feeder roads in the county, with focuses on impaired driving on Saturday, July 11.

CSP also says increased law enforcement will be present around the El Paso County Fair, which starts Saturday.

Troopers and other law enforcement say they will be on the lookout for any dangerous driving that is observed or reported. CSP says its Pikes Peak DUI Team and the Colorado Springs Troop Office will be working with CPD over the weekend.

CSP is also asking for residents to report any suspected impaired driving by calling CSP or 9-1-1 and giving the following information:

  • Vehicle description
  • License plate number
  • Location and direction of travel
  • Driver description
  • Driving behavior
