Colorado Parks and Wildlife recover drowning victim from Chatfield Reservoir

Colorado Parks and Wildlife

LITTLETON, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) Marine Evidence Recovery Team recovered a drowning victim from Chatfield Reservoir Friday.

According to officials, an adult male was recovered from the water after drowning Thursday evening while trying to save children.

CPW says witnesses saw an inner tube overturn and three children fall into the water. All three were wearing life jackets, but began to struggle in the water, according to officials. The adult male, who was not wearing a life jacket, jumped into the reservoir to assist and went underwater.

Boaters were able to rescue the children. According to CPW, the victim was recovered from the water around 1 p.m. Friday after a 19-hour search.

CPW says they are now investigating the incident as a boating accident.
