Colorado Gov. Jared Polis congratulates primary election winners

DENVER, Colo. (KRDO) -- Governor Jared Polis is congratulating the candidates who secured their parties' nominations in Colorado's 2026 primary election while thanking voters across the state for participating in the democratic process.

In a statement Tuesday night, Polis praised Democrats, Republicans and unaffiliated voters who cast ballots, saying voter participation strengthens Colorado's democracy.

"I want to start by thanking Colorado's voters — Democrats, Republicans and Independents — who voted and made their voices heard," Polis said. "Our democracy is stronger when people participate, and your decision to vote in a primary makes a positive difference for our state."

Polis also congratulated the candidates who, based on unofficial results from the Colorado Secretary of State, have secured their party nominations for statewide offices:

• Governor: Phil Weiser (Democrat) and Republican candidate still too close to call
• Secretary of State: Amanda Gonzalez (Democrat) and James Wiley (Republican)
• State Treasurer: Jeff Bridges (Democrat) and Kevin Grantham (Republican)
• Attorney General: Jena Griswold (Democrat) and Michael J. Allen (Republican)

"Thank you all for stepping forward to run for office and your willingness to serve the people of Colorado," Polis said.

The results remain unofficial until they are certified under Colorado law. The nominees will advance to the Nov. 3, 2026, General Election.
