City of Pueblo seeking public comments on Return to Nature Funeral Home debris

KRDO

PUEBLO, Co. (KRDO) -- The City of Pueblo is seeking public comment on whether or not demolition debris from the Return to Nature Funeral Home in Penrose, can be disposed of at the Southside Landfill.

The City anticipates its landfill operator, Wastefill Connections, will apply to allow the disposal at the Southside Landfill under Pueblo Municipal Code Title IV: Building Regulations, Chapter 12 – Solid Wastes Disposal Sites and Facilities.

A one-time waiver has already been approved by the Colorado Department of Public Health for removal action under the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

This is following the EPA's announcement last week to demolish the funeral home starting in late February.

Residents have until Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024, to ask any questions or give feedback on the proposal.
