Trees for Troops program gives 500 Christmas trees to military families

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - Fort Carson will be giving away 500 real Christmas trees to soldiers and their families as part of the annual Trees for Troops program on Dec. 7 at 5 p.m. at Iron Horse Park.

Fort Carson says that the event is open to all Department of Defense ID cardholders. Families will be able to pick a tree on a first come first serve basis but should be prepared to load and secure their tree.

Fort Carson Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation is hosting the event regardless of the weather. Attendees can also enjoy hot cocoa and s’mores kits.

Leftover trees will be available at Iron Horse Park throughout the weekend.
