City of Pueblo hires new City Attorney
PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO)-- The City of Pueblo has just hired a new City Attorney by Pueblo Mayor Nick Gradisar.
According to the City of Pueblo, Monday, August 14, the Pueblo City Council will confirm George Hypolite’s new position as he oversees the City’s Law Department.
He is expected to fully start his role with the City of Pueblo on Tuesday, August 15.
Hypolite joins the City following his previous role as the Assistant Attorney General’s Transportation Unit for the State of Colorado since 2022.
For several years, Hypolite worked as a corporate counsel, in addition to his work with the City and County of Denver Department of Law for five years, and the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority.
According to officials with the City of Pueblo, Hypolite holds a doctoral degree in Law from University of San Diego School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in Ethnic Studies and Women’s Studies from University of Colorado.
He is also a member of the Colorado and California Bar Associations and an active member of the United States District Court District of Colorado Civil Pro Bono Panel.
George Hypolite was also the former co-chair of the International Municipal Lawyers Association Economics Development and Finance Section and is currently a member of the Association of Corporate Council (ACC)--earning the elite ACC In-house Counsel Certified designation.
Hypolite joins the City of Pueblo with the support of his wife Joanna and his children Ezekiel, Lynn and Matilda.
He enjoys volunteering as a high school football and basketball coach and has been doing so since 2019 at Aurora Central High School.
Hypolite also has volunteered with Food Bank of the Rockies, Urban Peek and Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado since 2015, and has previously volunteered with San Diego Habitat for Humanity, Paws Co, Loyola High School, Boulder Safe, Project Angel Food and Good Shepherd Battered Women’s Shelter.
