FREMONT COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- Friday, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) released more information about a shooting involving a Fremont County Sheriff's deputy.

Thursday, Oct. 20, at 8:26 a.m., Fremont County Sheriff's Office Patrol Deputies were dispatched to the Country Green Apartments in the 3000 block of E. Highway 50 in Cañon City on reports of a man with a gun.

At 8:40 a.m., the CBI said a patrol deputy found a man fitting the suspect description walking in the 400 block of Greydene Ave. While contacting the man, later identified as Tyler Scott Davenport, he began to run away from the deputy.

According to the CBI, Davenport pulled out a semi-automatic handgun while being chased by the deputy. At one point, the CBI said Davenport pointed the handgun at the deputy, which ended in the deputy firing.

Davenport was taken to a hospital for injuries he sustained. According to the CBI, he's still in the hospital recovering from injuries he sustained.

The CBI, however, has not specified whether or not Davenport was shot. KRDO has reached out for more clarity.

According to the CBI, the deputy involved in the shooting was placed on administrative leave per the FCSO policy while the state investigates the shooting. The deputy was not injured in the incident.

The CBI said the name of the deputy will not be released until the 11th Judicial District Attorney's Office makes its ruling and issues the final report on the case.

At the request of the Fremont County Sheriff's Office, the CBI Pueblo Regional Field Office Major Crimes Unit is assisting with the OIS investigation.
