2 killed following officer-involved shooting in Douglas County

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- An investigation is underway after a deadly shooting involving deputies at an RTD train station in Lone Tree.

Wednesday, Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies were patrolling a parking lot at 10203 Station Way.

While on duty, deputies saw a suspicious black Kia with no license plates and punched-out locks. 

The incident was first tweeted by the sheriff’s office at 2:38 a.m. 

According to DCSO, when deputies confronted the vehicle, two suspects fired from inside. 

The two suspects inside the Kia were shot and killed after six deputies returned fire, DCSO said. One deputy was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. 

In a tweet, the DCSO confirmed that the Kia in the incident was stolen. 

The identities of the suspects involved have not been released.
