Former Manitou Springs High football coach to be inducted into the Colorado High School Activities Association Hall of Fame

MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A former Manitou Springs High School football coach is being inducted into the Colorado High School Activities Association Hall of Fame.

Former football coach George Rykovich will be inducted into the CHSAA Hall of Fame on Jan. 23, 2023. District officials say he's the second Manitou Springs High School representative to be elected into the hall of fame.

According to the Manitou Springs School District, Rykovich coached the team from 1971 to 2006.

During that time, he led the Mustangs to 222 wins, 17th all-time in state history, and two state championships in 1987 and 1990.

Ahead of his induction, former players and alumni are invited to congratulate Rykovich at halftime of the La Junta game on Oct. 21. It's a home game that starts at 7 p.m.

Rykovich is one of seven inductees in the 2022 Hall of Fame Class.
