The Palmer Ridge football team feels they have something to prove in 2022
Palmer Ridge won three straight titles in Class 3A, and returned to the state title game in their first year in Class 4A but they haven't won a 4A crown yet, and that doesn't sit well with the players, “I think it’s a big deal. I feel like as far as being taken seriously, everyone is like: oh they won state three times, but it was in 3A. That didn’t count. Winning in 4A would mean a lot for the program,” says Jackson St. Aubyn. KJ Smedley adds, “The past two years have been some brutal endings for us. It just drives everyone of us seniors especially, and the whole team honestly. What are you trying to get back to it, and make it back to state, and actually win the thing.”
With Pine Creek moving up to Class 5A, someone has to come in and become the top dogs in 4A, “There’s a bunch of talk that we’re not going to be as good as last year. We will have all the weapons, but people are hungry. We are ready to go out and win. These last two years have been disappointing, but we’re just ready to go out there and win,” says Walker Himebauch.
