A DUI crash in Douglas County left two dead and others in critical condition

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- On August 6, 2022, Colorado State Patrol (CSP) responded to a call for a two-vehicle crash just before midnight.

A CSP Trooper told our Denver partner 9News that one vehicle was being driven by a 25-year-old, Ricky Avalos-Trujillo, from Colorado Springs. According to CSP, Avalos-Trujillo was suspected of being under the influence at the time of the crash and hit the other vehicle head-on.

The second vehicle had four passengers all under the age of 18 says CSP. Two passengers were male and two were female.

CSP says that two passengers in the second vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. 9News identified the deceased as Colton Bellamy and Audrey Todd based on a letter from the principal of Castle View High School where the two were about to enter their senior years.

One is in serious condition, identified as Maddy Tobler, and one, Owen, sustained unknown injuries.

The condition of Avalos-Trujillo is unknown at this time.

GoFundMe fundraisers have been set up. The one to support Audrey Todd's family can be found here and the one for Maddy Tobler can be found here. The one in memory of both  Colton Bellamy and Audrey Todd can be found here. Owen's can be found here.
