All lanes reopen following officer-involved accident on westbound Highway 24

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- All lanes are back open following an officer-involved traffic accident on westbound Highway 24.

Wednesday morning, Colorado Springs Police Department received a call of an officer-involved traffic accident on westbound Highway 24, just before 8:30 a.m.

According to police, the officer was driving an unmarked police SUV in the left lane on Highway 24. Another vehicle was driving eastbound in the left lane on that same roadway.

Police say the vehicle traveling eastbound lost control and crossed over a grass median. The vehicle eventually drove into the westbound lane of Highway 24 and hit the officer's front-left part of the police SUV.

The officer and driver reported no injuries during the accident.
