1 killed in overnight crash south of downtown Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- One person is dead after a motorcycle and vehicle collide south of downtown Colorado Springs.

The crash was reported just after 12:20 a.m. Monday, at S. Tejon St. near the on-ramp to northbound Interstate 25. That's just south of Dorchester Park.

The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) says the motorcycle rider was traveling southbound on Tejon when a separate vehicle traveling northbound was attempting to make a left-hand turn when the two vehicles collided.

The motorcycle rider was pronounced deceased at the scene. The crash forced the closure of Tejon from E. Las Vegas St. to E .Motor Way. That area has since reopened to traffic.

At this time, the motorcyclist's speed is being looked at as a possible cause of the crash.
