Peanut pushers progress up Pikes Peak

MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A Colorado Springs resident, Bob Salem, is attempting to push a peanut up Pikes Peak in record time.

Salem began his climb on July 9, 2022, in an attempt to break the eight-day record.

The original record was set in 1963. Ulysses Baxter completed the peanut push in just eight days.

Since Manitou Springs is celebrating its 150th year of being a city, Salem wanted to be the first person in the 21st century to complete the peanut push.

Manitou Springs has set up a peanut pusher progress tracker that is being used to watch Salem's trek up the mountain. Travel Channel also did a segment covering the history of the Pikes Peak Peanut Push.
