District 11 Board of Education names new Superintendent of Schools

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Friday, Colorado Springs School District 11 announced Michael Gaal as the next Superintendent of Schools. Pending contract negotiations, D11 says Gaal will begin July 1, 2022.
During a special board meeting Friday, the Colorado Springs School District 11 Board of Education unanimously selected Gaal.
Gaal was one of three finalists the district has been spending the last few weeks looking at after a nationwide search.
In response to being named the final candidate, Gaal said the following:
I am honored and humbled that the D11 Board of Education has selected me as their next Superintendent. I want to thank the other candidates and the Superintendent search committees for a robust and thorough process. I am excited to return to Colorado Springs, where my journey started, and deliver the results our students require to lead successful and productive lives. With the board's trust, the collaboration of the staff, and the mandate of the community, we will ALL exceed our learning potential…together.
Michael Gaal
According to the district, Gaal has more than 30 years of service-centered experience across multiple sectors and disciplines, including working as the Deputy Chancellor for public schools in Washington D.C.
