Stage 1 fire restrictions for Pueblo County lifted
PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office has lifted the Stage 1 fire restrictions for Pueblo County, effective immediately.
“The recent moisture and cooler temperatures the past few days has dampened the fire danger in the area and as a result, the fire restrictions for Pueblo County are being lifted,” Pueblo County Sheriff Kirk M. Taylor said in a press release.
The restrictions have been in place since April 13.
While restrictions are lifted, the sheriff's office is reminding people to:
- Never leave a fire unattended
- Completely put out a fire, including those in pits and barbecue grills
- Dispose of all smoking material in a safe manner
- Keep vehicles off of dry grass
- Clear dead leaves, branches, needles away from your property, including in gutters, rooflines, around decks, and fences
- When doing a controlled burn, make sure to contact the burn line (719-583-2876) before starting the fire
- Adhere to the restriction of NO Burning on days when a Red Flag Warning is issued.
However, fire restrictions still exist in some areas of Pueblo County, like the Bureau of Land Management-administered public lands. For more information, click here.
