Colorado Springs Police respond to barricaded subject

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A man is in custody following a standoff in Colorado Springs Wednesday afternoon.

Police responded to the incident in the 5200 block of N. Union Blvd. around 4 p.m. This happened near the intersection with N. Academy Blvd.

People were asked to avoid the area while officers worked.

Just before 6 p.m., police announced a suspect had been taken into custody for motor vehicle theft. However, the Colorado Springs Police Department said detectives would be at the scene for several more hours to "put all the pieces of this puzzle together."

The name of the suspect has not been released.
